Hi Everyone,
This is my first post, I know you are all very helpful on this site, so I thought maybe you could help me too!
I have a Red Sex Link hen, about 6 months old. She has been acting odd for about 3-4 days now.
She walks around like she's in slow motion, tail down. Drinks water, sometimes eats. Doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort, I pick her up and she seems okay with it. I have felt for lumps or stuck eggs, but I don't feel anything. May or may not be pooping. No blood or discharge from vent- looks pretty clean, not swollen or inflamed. A little dried residue on butt feathers, but some of my other hens have it sometimes too.
She almost has that "trance like" look in her eye that my broody hen gets, but not so intense. Not sitting or acting like my others when they are broody.
Not laying, but since she's normally with the other hens, I don't know for sure how long. I separated her because one of my aggressive girls is picking at her off and on. Figured it was better to keep her alone for now.
I'm not a hen expert, so I could use some advice.
Thank you!
Idahohen
Update: Thank you to those who responded. But I found her this morning, she had died in her sleep. I guess I didn't do what I needed to do in time. I feel really bad....Like I should have been able to help, but I let her down. Hopefully if this ever happens again, I will be able to help.
Thank you again,
Idahohen
