Hen or cockerel??

    The chicken in question is a black Orpington x dark Colombian brahma mix. She/he's almost 5 months old right now and beginning to look suspiciously like a boy!

    By 5 months there would be more signs if it was in fact a rooster. Pullet. She will have great color when feathered out.

    x3 on that. We have two BA and there is NO doubt at 20 weeks between the pullet and Roo. Our pullet (Bertha Joe) looks exactly like your picture. Our Roo (Leo) has large wattles and the classic Rooster tail feathers.

    Phew!

    I was a bit suspicious of her neck feathers, they seemed quite pointed but since her comb and wattles stayed small that made me think she was more likely a pullet.
