[IMG]This chick was a singleton from one egg I added as a test egg in my incubator with some exotic eggs. Of course it was the only one that hatched.
    Any guesses on the sex?
Breed: 3/4 EasterEgger and 1/4 Black Jersey Giant
    Thanks.

A clearer photo would help, but it looks like a cockerel to me.

A closer photo would help as well. But I, too, am thinking cockerel.

(Sigh) Initially I thought hen when it started feathering. I thought it would look like the mother, a typical EE, but it kept darkening (Father is 1/2 JG) Comb is slightly larger than girl EE combs at the same age but it is sort of a yellowish pink. Husband still thinks girl (wistful thinking), but I think the behavior is very cocky. He's full of himself. But could that be because he's by himself with only the humans (and dogs?)
I've been putting him in his little chicken tractor outside and within a week or so hope to introduce him to some I have that are just one month older.
I was really hoping for a girl. Mother's line lays pretty blue eggs. Girls from father's line lay pink eggs.
Has to be a girl. Out of the chicks I've hatched from my own eggs this year it would be impossible to have a 71% cockerel rate, right?

I wish. From several broody hatches and my own pitiful incubator attempts, I'm around 85% cockerels. Seriously.

ACCCCHT! How is that possible? If only you could figure out why and reverse it to 85% pullets.
