Hen or Roo

I have 3 chicks that are 4 weeks old. The breed is a cross with a dominique roo and red sex link hen. Can anyone tell male or female yet or will I have to wait??? I can probably get better pics if needed. These are just the ones I took to show them off...

Too young to tell at the moment. Wait until they are 8 weeks old.

Agree- should wait longer and post pics from the side with them standing. Also a good pic of comb/wattles at that time too.

A little young to tell, he might be a male, but he is too young to know at this age.

From comb widths on #2-#3 looks like males.
#1, is female.

#2-#3 have broad combs, while #1 has a slimmer not so wide comb.
It's a nifty little trick at sexing rose combed, & pea combed chicken varieties at a young age.

Very interesting! Thank you...I was really hoping #3 would be a female since it is the friendliest so far!

You're welcome, males can be really friendly too, I have quite a few of friendly roos.

I agree... you have a pullet in #1 and very likely cockerels in 2 & 3. The combs are very wide
