Hi all! I know it’s way to early to tell, but I was just wondering if anybody has any guesses on the gender of this chick? He/she is a 2 week old Birchen Modern Game Bantam. This is my first time raising this breed, so I don’t know too much about it except they don’t like the cold. His/her parents have already gotten to stay inside a couple of nights. 😊
This little guy is a little feisty and has a big personality for a little chick! It tries to fight my hand sometimes so I’m worried it’s a rooster. It’s super sweet though. ❤️

How early can you tell their genders with this breed? And at about what age do the males start to get white on their shoulders?

Also, do you think there’s anything wrong with his/her toe placement? It just seems a little high on the back toe but I’ve never had this breed before.

Thanks in advance! 😊

Sorry, you’ll have to wait a while longer. I’ve never had any of these guys so I’m not sure what age is best for determining sex. For most breeds you can tell between 5-12 weeks depending on how fast they mature. My BCMs were obvious by 5 weeks and silkies take forever sometimes.

That chick is totally adorable! 😍 🤩 Unfortunately the gender is unknown at the moment. Update us in a few more weeks when it’s bigger and the gender will be easier to determine. :)
Thank you! I’ll try and post next week just to compare if there’s any noticeable differences.
This little baby learned how to jump the brooder box recently. 😂 We put a cover on so it should be safe now!
