    How old is he/she ? could you get a closer up pic?

    A closer picture would help. If it's less than 1 year old it's a pullet or cockerel.

    this is the only pic i have until tomorrow when i pick i up i was hoping it was a rooster or a cockerel!! and its 3 or 4 months old!! and i will add more pics when i pick it up

    It could be either one, but I don't see any curved tail feathers,but it does have a pretty large red comb. The large comb may be from that it might be laying. Sorry if that was confusing

    A better picture may help. I have been told that for barred varieties females are darker overall (more black, as a result of double barring I want to say) and males are lighter with more white.

    Since it is only three to four months old, with a comb that large, chances are, it is a cockerel.

    I don't agree. Here are pictures of a 3 - 4 month old Barred Rock Cockerel I have now. Notice his comb is significantly larger.
