We were just sold three Easter Egger chickens and told that one was a rooster and two were hens. They're about six months old and the "rooster" is crowing. We are not convinced that the other two are hens, however. Please let me know your thoughts. The whiter one is the rooster. [IMG]

All three are boys. And very clearly so. Just look at those saddle feathers compared to the Buff Orpington next to them.

Guess that's what we get for trying to trust a Craigslist deal. Paid $50 for three roosters...

Wow! I'd be making a phone call or confronting them. That's way to high for Easter Egger roosters to start with. And the seller almost had to know they are all males. Sorry you got took.

[IMG] I'm not very familiar with the breed so I wasn't sure. I'll be messaging her today.

Ya I would be too. Never going to see some eggs from these three. For future reference, those long pointed saddle feather "just infront of the main tail" are a dead give away everytime for a male.

It's not Craigslist, the seller could have advertised anywhere and you'd have the same result.

Contact them and have them make it right. Even if they were genuinly ignorant, they should be willing to refund your money and possibly take the birds back.

In the future, feel free to post pics of birds before you purchase them if you're unsure of your sexing ability. There's usually someone around who can confirm gender reasonably fast.
