We brought this bird some 8 weeks ago. We where told it was a sussex pullet and should be a good egg layer. 8 weeks later no eggs, and few friends are suggesting it could be a rooster. Any thoughts whether it is a hen or rooster?

Either they lied about the age or that is most definitely a rooster.

How old is the bird supposed to be now? Age is a good thing to know to determine gender. If it's under say 4ish months old, it's a rooster.

A better picture would help. White birds are hard, they get a glare on the feathers and they're hard to see. The bird is so ruffled, does it look like that normally?

I would also vote more toward a roo, but like everything else there are variables. I would also like to know how old it is at this point as well. :/

When I brought the "pullet" I was told it was about 15 weeks. So add another 8 weeks, it "should be" 23 weeks old. I know some one who has sussex's, and says they should be laying around the 21 week mark?
