Purchased chickens last year. Having a problem.
Rooster is mating with the hens, which is normal. However I have one hen that grabs the heads of hen while he is mating them. One had to be removed because of how bad the wound is. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks
    Lori

I've never heard of that before. Is she the dominant hen? If so she may be trying to show her dominance.

She is a dominant hen. Someone said to remove her because she will teach the others. I have three hens in bad shape and one had to be removed from the flock because of its wound.

The dominant hen sliver laced Wyandotte.

That makes sense, because they can be pretty aggressive. How long has this been going on?

If keeps being this aggressive I would recommend getting rid of her, but maybe wait one more week.
