My hen has started laying eggs for a couple off weeks now, but she has been losing weight. They are free range all day, i feed them organic layers and feed them treats and compost. i avoid giving them rotten food. Any advice??

If she is loosing noticeable amounts of weight, I would suspect worms. They are relatively easily to get rid of, and there are numerous organic solutions. Flocks should be wormed at least once a year regardless. I suggest giving them pumpkin "guts", they work great and are a relatively cheap solution to the problem. If you cannot obtain pumpkin, garlic, and jalapeno seeds work well also.

They all seem to be doing very well, but yes i am going to try the garlic way of deworming them. Thank you for the response :)
