I've read quite a bit on here about crop impaction and sour crop, which my hen, Opal, definitely has. We managed to get some olive oil and water down her gullet, and massaged her crop. She then puked up a good quantity of very smelly green ooze. A while later I fed her some plain yogurt. She seems to be doing better, but I will keep a close eye on her. My question is this: if her crop bloats up again, and I need to empty it, what is the best position to hold her, to avoid fluid getting into her airway? She acted like she got a bit of fluid in her airway, right after vomiting. When I gave her the yogurt, she seemed to have gotten past it, but would hate for her to survive the sour crop, but die from a lung problem! Thanks!
