I have 5 hens, all eating the same food and treats, etc., but one has almost liquid bms...very ammonia smelling...was wondering if you could help figure out what is causing this...she seems ok otherwise...

what would help her greatly in this case would be a powered probotic you can add to the water. the probotics replaces the bad gut bacteria with good bacteria. the more good bacteria the better. I use a product called Probios for chickens. it works GREAT! if my birds get lose stool I'll give probios in there water and in a day or so there stool will be back to normal. probios has wonderful ingredients that are beneficial like lactobacillus acidophilus lactobacillus casei; and enterococcus faecium. lots of live lactic acid bacteria. it is great because the good bacteria take up housing in the gut and it will actually fight the bad or negative bacteria . bad bacteria causes illnesses and loose stool. I use 1/4 teaspoon per gallon. I believe its around 12 dollars. just look up probios for chickens and it Will take you to the Site that sells it. I really recommended probios for chickens. it heals my chickens right up when they get loose watery stool. I think it would help your chicken a lot. also its great for the whole flock and lasts a long time for one jar. I use it about two weeks out of the month for good gut health. its like probotics are great for people well they are great for chickens too. I really think it will help your girl. I wish you luck. I think it's caused from bad bacteria entering the gut. the good bacteria should help a lot. it works like a charm for me. best wishes. hope this was helpful. good luck.

I noticed that smell in a couple of mine that were very sick. In both of their cases, I think the smell was due to the beginning of kidney problems, probably due to dehydration. I was able to make the smell go away in one after tube feeding her fluids for 24 hours, but she died a week later due to complications from Marek's.

It's funny...I take a pro biotic for the very same reason...will give it a try...thanks for the help...thanks to all who replied.
