Female, most likely will lay brown eggs, due to the ear coloring. Also see the bars in the feather pattern? I'd say this is a Barred Rock cross with a chicken that has red plumage.

Now that you mention it... I does look like it has bared rock, but Probobly a red hen, because it isn't a sex-link, Sussex might still be in there somewhere.
