    Hi
My leghorn, Dora, who is 2 years old has only laid 1 egg since Xmas day. Prior to this she had been laying about 5 eggs a week for about 16 months. She is healthy and has a good diet and grit. Is this normal? She was always such a noisy girl when laying an egg. Is she likely to start laying again soon? The others are laying OK. Any help with this would be most welcome,
    Thanks
    Maggie

She could be starting to wind down her laying career, or just taking a break. Either way she is laying what she can. What type of diet? Sometimes they need more protein than what's in a layer ration, and oyster shells should always be available in a separate dish to avoid any deficiencies.

    Welcome to BYC!

    Did she molt last fall?
    Do you free range?

Leghorns are short term, high production birds and can slow down dramatically around 2-3 years.
