What is the difference between Poullets (sp?) and Hens, and Cockerels and roosters? At what age can I tell the roosters from the hens.

Pullet--A female chicken who is not yet laying, or is under a year.
Hen--A female chicken over a year or has had her first molt
Cockerel-- A male chicken--most of the time, not yet crowing
    Rooster--A male chicken

You can tell (for sure) it is a female chicken once it lays an egg [IMG] [IMG]

Some folks can tell earlier---lurk around the "What gender is this?" forum long enough, you'll pick up some pointers.
