    Hi,
I'm new to raising chickens and I have read on here that you will know when it's time for a hen to lay by the color of her comb and wattles. How red is red?? Will it be as red as a roosters? Could someone post a pic for us newbies so we could have something to compare it to? Thanks

I just took this picture today. These pullets are 18 weeks old. A few have started squatting. Their moms layed at 25 weeks but th[IMG]ese girls act like they will lay sooner I hope.

Yeah their combs will definitely turn redder and grow out a little bit. Some tend to get redder than others I think.
