Hens with rooster

    So if my hens have been around a rooster that I don't want offspring from. How long does it take her to pass those eggs he fertilized? There's a new rooster n there now that I watch to harch some with

    If you want no doubt I would wait 3 full weeks before I save eggs to hatch.

    I do not know how long it will take the eggs to pass. I will have to check up on that. You have a very good question indeed, but I do know this, if your hen has not laid on the fertilized eggs yet, you can eat them. Make sure you put them in the refrigerator though, because depending on what climate you keep you house, something might produce. If your hen as already started to lay on the eggs, I would trash them. As sad as that can be.

    Unless you keep your house in the high 90s, I wouldn't worry about them beginning to germinate. As far as the time period, most literature indicates a hen can fertilize eggs with sperm from a male for two weeks. Most people I know use a 3-week cushion just to be sure.
