i Just Got Two New Baby Hens, a Little Golden One And a Little Black And White One (cant remember their actual breed names), im Always Having To Snuggle Them in Order For Them To Be Quiet But its To Much, im Not Able To Sleep Nor Do Anything Once They Climb Onto Me (cause i dont want to be rude to them). And They Wont Quiet Down if im Away Or Not Holding Them, i Can Only Either Put Up With The Chirps Or i Get a Rare Moment When They Have Tired Them Selfs Out.

Are They Too Cold? Am i Babying Them To Much? PLEASE HELP!

What heating have they got in the brooder? It may be that they are cold and you are the only warm spot! Or it may be that you are babying them too much! Lol! We can all be guilty of that!

Tell us a bit more about your set-up, see if we can help you get some sleep! ;)

i finally found a nest like bowl for them

they love it, but about their set-up:

they have rabbit paper bedding in there with a feeding/watering dish they had at the store where we got them, all that stuff is in a small box from home depot, im gonna get them a bigger box soon though. i would assume the heating lamp is only a foot and a half away from the bedding, and it seems to be warm in there when i stick my hand in, should i get a thermometer?

I would say you need a bigger box now. The brooder, whatever it is, needs to have a warm end and a cool end so that the chicks can move in and out of the heat as required. Your set-up looks like they would only have the warm and nowhere to cool down if they needed to. You don't necessarily need a thermometer as the chicks will tell you if they are OK or not....if they are constantly huddled at the warm end, they need more heat. If they are constantly as far away from the bulb as they can get, they are too hot. They will also cheep a lot if they are uncomfortable, one way or the other, and it will be a shrill distressed cheeping rather than the usual 'peep peep' of chicky talk! If they are moving between the warm and cool zones and happily pecking about and quietly peeping, then the temps are fine (though be aware they they do sleep A LOT and when they do, they seem to go from happy trotting around to face-plant-looking-like-roadkill in a millisecond! :gig

It does sound to me like there’s a problem if they’re being that loud. Most likely as a result of being too hot or too cold, but happyhens has given some good advice on that. Something to consider for next time could be a heat plate or MHP instead of a heat lamp. The chicks are in control of their own temperatures with those methods so you should find it easier. Also they are cheaper, safer, do not emit light and are closer to the way nature intended. Good luck with your chicks and I hope you manage to get some sleep!
