Here is 16 year old Goldilocks

    Here is Goldie and Poko the rooster, you can see the spur on her legs.
    I wonder how long she will live, she is very spoilt.
    She gets first pick at the leftover catfood and brekky cereal!!!

    16 yrs old?? WOW, GREAT JOB!! She is beautifull. Does she still lay? Doesnt matter if she doesnt..she is so pretty. But OHhhhhhh, those spurs!

    Yes Deb she still lays one every now and then though none of my hens are laying as it is autumn and I had to BUY 6 free range eggs from the supermarket so I could bake a choc cake "ouch"
    Why does she have spurs???

    Thanks, yes she is a sweety in the way she blabbers on to me on my back step in the morning, she is looking her age now, a bit scruffy and the autumn moult is starting now too.
    Ive never shown any birds so they usually dont look as spectacular as the beautifully groomed birds.
    I guess i could liken this to a paddock horse versus a stable horse!!!!
    However they are all beautiful to me.

    Sometimes older hens grow spurs. I think it's a hormonal thing.
    Obelisk is going to be 4 at the end of next month and she's got the start of a good sized one on one of her legs.
