My dear daughter just had her last day of school today so it got me thinking to all of you who have kids home for the summer. May you all have a happy, healthy and safe summer. May God's Face shine upon you all.

I have a secret!!!! With my two boys home ages 10 and 7 I knew their would be issues.I have 2 other children ages 3 (girl) and 2 boy and I also do childcare and have a few others ages 2 and 3 so it's a full house.

Here's my secret:
in order for my boys to stay out of my hair and get a clean house I gave them a choice,If they want to play the wii they would have to EARN their time. For every chore done they recieve 5 min. 10 min. if they don't need told what to do.So they spend the whole day doing their chores (no complaints) and after dinner they get to play it while I get other things done.It works!!! Teaches the kids responsibilty and also they appreciate their game system a bit more. Everyone wins!

Ya got to lay down the law and just show them to carry their weight around the house because it's helping and being apart of a family.I always tell them do you want an unhappy grumpy mom? Then help me and dad out!
But this is a great way to modivate them.I don't hear I'm bored because there's no such word in our house. If I hear it I hand them a broom.LOL!!!

We just finished week 1 of summer CHALLENGE. Since there is truly no vacation, at least not my definition of it, I changed the name.

I wish they could appreciate a little down time as much as I can....

now I have to convince my teenagers that sleeping past noon isn't the thing to do

That's what they've been looking forward to of all things

Thanks to the kid failing the state test we have summer school, YES!
As for the others they sleep late, wake up around 10, eat then out the door till they want food.
We have it good we live in the country so they free range all day.

Usually, boredom is not a problem. My kids have daily chores and then it's off to play outside and roam. This week it has been raining since Monday! My son asked if we could start school up again. We homeschool and while we COULD start up again, I want my summer vacation! So we went to the library and got a bunch of books and they have been reading all week. Go figure! My son actually just read his first big chapter book. He's only 7 and I got it to read with him, but he just couldn't wait around until I had time so he finished it himself.
