Heritage RIR X White Plymouth Rock boy or girl ???

    I crossed my H RIR with my WPR and got thee 2 chicks from the 1st hatch so what did I get
    and does this mean I have silver in the white ?

    To young to tell, but you start to tell at 5 weeks and know for sure at 10 weeks(depends which breed) :)

    What about sexlink ! I thought you could tell at hatch !
    But I don't see much difference in the color of these 2.
    One have more of a silver to it then the other.

    In black sex-links you can tell. Not so sure about the other sex-links.

    If the father was the RIR and the hen was the white rock, then these are definitely male chicks. Females from that crossing are caramel in color. However, that is only true if both parents are purebred. If they have any mixed genetics, that throws off the whole sex-linking concept.

    The Heritage RIR & the PWR are from the same breeder in Florida
    I will have more hatching out Sunday hopfully that I get some red chicks this time.
    I have either been taken or I have 2 roosters, time will tell.

    Just to check, is your roo the rir and the hen the white? Cause the opposite won't work.
