Hi All,

Been lurking here for a couple of years now and finally decided to participate a little more.

We live on a very small property in the middle of farmland about 25 km outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. I am an ex-pat American and my wife is a Brit. We've lived in Denmark since 2008 and started keeping chickens in 2013.

We started out with a batch of 20 Brown Cochin and 3 battery hen chicks. After much madness and overcrowding, we culled that back to 12 - 1 cock and 11 hens. The previous owner of the property had converted the large outbuilding into a half-assed 'coop', but when, a year on, a fox found our flock and took 10 of 12, we realised it was not fit for purpose.

We repopulated the flock with 11 new heritage chickens, one each of a number of breeds, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte cock. We also spent a great deal of money on a large bespoke coop for them. In the process of getting it installed I realised we'd kinda been ripped off and that I could probably do better with a bit of practice. I now have a woodshop and am in the process of learning how to build decent coops.

We started hatching over the summer. We were really interested to see how the Silver Lace would combine with the vary different colouration on our hens. We were not disappointed.

Let's see our hens are:
Phoenix (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_chicken)
Buff Laced Wyandotte (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/108335/buff-lacing#post_1248386)
Sperber (http://www.huehnerwelt.de/rassenaz/deutsperber.htm)
Vorverk (https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/vorwerk)
Koenigsberger (https://goo.gl/Nqrd67)
Maran (http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/Marans-B71.aspx)
Barnevelder (http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/Barnevelder-B21.aspx)

And our rooster, a Silver Laced Wyandotte (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyandotte_chicken) Also, see my avatar :D

Of all the hybrids, the Phoenodottes are the most spectacular, but they are all glorious in their own way. Phoenodotte - Phoenix / SL Wyandotte Hybrid

Royal Blue - SL Wyandotte / Barnevelder hybrid

At present we have 78 birds, but we are due for a cull before Christmas. Come spring we will be selling birds , supplies and (hopefully) coops.

So, it's nice to finally be taking part in this community that has helped me so over the last couple of years.
Glad to meet you!
