You aren't weird at all; in fact, the situation you're in is perfectly understandable.

There are a lot of people on here who don't have chickens yet. Some are working to get their city or town regulations changed so that they can have chickens in their backyard. Some (like me) couldn't have them where they live even if the town around them allowed it (I live in a townhouse, so I don't have much of a yard!).

You're welcome to participate here whether you have chickens or not. We'll enjoy your company anyway.

BYC should do some sort of "adopt-a-chicken" donation campaign where one can donate some amount, get an "autographed" picture of one's virtual chicken (to proudly display on the fridge), a little bio of the chicken and some information about its breed and a BYC bumper sticker or something. It would be awesome.

I doubt it has anything to do with being hip.

Usually, the more you post, the more people recognize you and the more you'll be responded to. Just keep posting, sharing, asking questions and meeting people!

We're just one big, long "cool kids" table at lunch (and it's definitely cool to be nerdy and obsessed with chickens...ha ha). There's always room for one more.

hahaha

And you had to walk to the coop uphill both ways barefoot in the snow?

I tried that once. It was winter, nighttime, and I forgot to shut the pophole door. I figured that if I ran fast enough, I'd only notice a little cold. (I was young and too lazy at the moment to put on socks or shoes...I have no idea why).

I *don't* recommend it. I made it halfway to the coop; it felt like knives were stabbing into my feet. I ran back and got my socks and boots like a normal human being.

i like information. you should try to have a converstation with me and my mom and one of my sisters. it's rather amusing. my mom was describing her attention deficit problem and we were having fun with her.

looky there...a person from Madison.

I lived in Madison for a few years.

That is until I met my hubby and moved in with him on a farm in Mount Horeb...antiques and trolls.

And what else are you supposed to do on a farm but try to stock it with animals?

But we had to move, the landlord sold the farm to the park and they made horsetrails.

and so you know...i noticed where you were from before i noticed what you said. hip enough...rolling eyes. As if owning chickens is hip! ha ha ha!

me,
g

I would send a virtual picture to anyone that wants it for free. I have a baby that is character....

The very first forum I ever lurked on (local town forum) had a thread like this. All the people were complaining about lurkers. They were saying lurkers should choose a name and sign in. Can anyone guess what I chose????

I am a very lazy thinker. I name my pets that way too.

Maple,

Believe me I hear enough, more than enough, about bodily functions and how they don't work like they are supposed to from my mom. I guess the older we get the more we talk about disfunctioning body parts.
