New chicken owners here! Been lurking here for a couple months and really enjoying learning so much from everyone. Hoping to get to know some fellow chicken owners!

We have 28 chickens right now. We had been wanting to get a few chickens but hubby is military so we had been dragging our feet a bit about it. Then they kind of fell into our laps! There was a family looking to get rid of their whole flock and coop because they couldn't afford them anymore. So we snagged our opportunity and have loved every minute! We have some older ones -- almost 4 years. We also have several younger ones -- about 6 months or so. We are hoping to get some help on here figuring out their breeds and whether we might have a few roosters lurking around in there!

Welcome to the BYC flock. I would like to thank you husband for his time in service. The best way to meet people in your area , is to go to "where am I, where are you." in the social forum. Once there locate and post on your state thread. You may be surprised to find a lot of chickeners in the neighborhood.
