I kept a dozen chickens for more than 5 years, previously.

I have no chickens now as they are not allowed in certain residential areas in Boiling Spring Lakes (Southport ) North Carolina. A group of over 60 are attempting to change the ordinance, to the dismay of the mayor and his wife. We have accumulated about 600+ signatures and the planning board is supportive. Hooray!

I intend to raise quieter, more unique looking hens - Im just now beginning to revisit the breeds that will do well in this hot humid climate.

I enjoy caring for the hens, maintaining them, helping others understand a hens habits, anatomy - how to store these eggs and differences in home raised vs store bought

I also enjoy biking, hiking, walking, reading nonfiction, swimming

The town board knows very little about chickens they use the terms interchangeably (hens chickens) They have concerns regarding myths and not facts so I have been gathering facts and researching. This website kept popping up during my searches, and I know it will offer much insight for the future.
