    New girl from FL here.

I grew up having chickens and life got in the way and we eventually got out of everything. Well, I miss that way of life so it is back to my farm girl ways and time to start over. We are working on a new coop and then getting a new flock. Not sure what kind yet, but I do know I want egg layers. We used to have a random-mixed flock, but I am looking to only have a single breed this go around. Maybe expand out and do a second breed in a second coop once things get going well.

    Have a good evening y'all!

Howdy from Kansas, MuddyMascara, and :welcome! Great to have you in our community. It will be good to get back into chickens. What breed are you going to go with? So many good options! Also, if you'd like to chat with locals you can find the FL thread in this link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC! :)

I am thinking about the Wyandotte. Those silver laced ones are just gorgeous.

I'll definitely check out the FL thread.

[IMG] I love your user name "Muddy Mascara." Reminds me of when I used to do a great deal of walking, a runner passed me and the back of her t-shirt said

"My mascara runs faster than you." I still find it funny.
