Hi everyone, I'm a Mainer in the middle of my very first hatch that's just my own. I always watched my mother's hatches growing up and decided I'm finally ready to try and go into small scale homesteading. I have eggs from D'uccles to Wyandottes (columbian and blue laced), and jumbo coturnix quails, plus duck mutts in the bator at the moment. The D'uccles are pretty much done hatching. We're at day 22 and the three eggs left in there show no signs of pipping, but I do have seven adorable fluffballs in the brooder and one not doing so well, hatched late chick who clawed his way out this morning, but is hardly moving. I also have seven quail brooding as well and a few more of them pipping. Today is day 18 for them and since there are 23 eggs, I'm hoping quite a few more will make it out. The silkies should begin hatching tomorrow with my wyandottes staggered throughout the week. The duck eggs will go into lockdown next week, so it's a busy month for me!
