Hi all! We are brand new to chickens and our new babies are 1 week old today. All seem to be thriving! We got them from Meyer. I was hoping it would be a little cooler, but apparently it is now been the hottest month of the year right now. We live in south Louisiana. We have 4 children, 3 dogs and a cat! Hoping all get along with the new chickens.
We decided on 2 buff Orpingtons
2 barred rock
1 Easter egger named Easter by her 8 year old owner
1 silver laced Wyandotte
1 gold laced Wyandotte
Already leading so much from this community
Praying they are all pullets like they are supposed to be. We have all grown so attached already! We do have a home lined up if she turns to a he! Picture attached from their field trip outside. So far the barred rock are the friendliest. Mozart climbs into our hands and snuggles!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Congratulations on your darling new chicks. I have found that in my flock of 29, by two PBRs are also the most friendly. Regardless of their friendliness towards humans, PBRs tend to rank quite high in the pecking order. My hen also turned out to be a wonderful mother.
