Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Janice from LI New York.
My husband and I have recently purchased chicks. We have 12 6 week old chicks and have had them since they were three days old. We got them from a local farm and they were straight run. Once all is said and done, we will keep six and my sister will take the other six. We didn't know a whole lot about chickens but we learned real quick.

I'm sure i will have lots of questions to follow.

Congradulations, I hope you don't have to worry about roos making too much racket since you got strait run chicks.

Quote:Well we should have gotten the chicks from some place like my pet chicken because I cannot have roosters here. But, We ended up getting them on the east end of LI and decided to take our chances. I have a few people lined up to take roosters from me if I end up with some. I'm sure I will too. There are at least two that are questionable so far.

[IMG] Jus' watch out for silkies pretending to be chickens. Don't let em getcha! If you see one get the garlic, a silver bullet and a wooden stake. If you don't have these run in the other direction. Do not look them in the eyes. [IMG]
