I guys! I'm Jenace! And that's actually my name! :D
So I don't HAVE chickens yet, but I'm going to try my best to get some next spring. Here's a list of ones I was thinking about getting:

    Rhode Island Red
    BSL (Black Sex Link)
    RSL (Red Sex Link)
    Culumbian Rock\Light Brahma
    Crested Cream Legbar\Cream Legbar
    Euskal Oiloa
    Gold Star Sex Link
    Amber White
    Golden Nugget
    Light Sussex
    BRAMAS
    Eater Eggers
    Favorolles
    Australorp
    Wyandotte
    Star Chickens
    Blue Orpington
    Buff Orpington
    Blue Andalusians
    Sussexes

I'm excited to be working with you all and learning everything I can about chickens. If you're getting bored of reading this you can stop now, I just have a little story that I want to share. ;)

Two years ago I got about 60 chickens, 30 in each coop, and 2 were accidently males. But there was one chicken that I loved a LOT, she was a blue andalusian and her name was Cheepy. She was my special and most favorite chicken. Then something horrible happened... About a year ago Cheepy died from a blocked vent. :‘(
I DON'T want that to happen again, and I would very much appreciate it you could give me any advice of how I can prevent that from ever happening.

    Thanks,
    Jenace

Hi, Jenace, welcome to BYC. Sadly enough chickens die, and the more chickens you have the more likely that some will die. It's how nature works.

Hello :frow Welcome To BYC! That is going to be one interesting flock of chickens you will have. Check out the various forums, especially under "Raising Backyard Chickens", most of your questions will probably fit into one of those categories.

I think you mean your favorite died of pasty butt. That generally happens among young chicks. Keep an eye on your birds to see that their "bums' are not blocked by poo. If you can't wash it away try to gently clip it away from the feathers. Then you can put a little Vaseline there to help keep things flowing. Some believe adding some apple cider vinegar to the water, prevents pasty butt.
