Hi Everyone!
I am a newbie here, and a newbie to have chicks as well!
I am a Probation Officer full time, but am also a 4-H leader, a barn manager, and a riding instructor part time.
I manage a horse farm (36 horses, some boarded and some for therapeutic programs) and we have about 20 hens and 3 roosters as well as some guinea hens and 1 lonely muscovy duck.
Over the last few years I've really enjoying caring for those hens and my personal barn has a great coop already built in! Soooo I decided this past weekend to take the plunge and get 15 little chicks of my own! I now have 5 Buff orpington, 5 golden laced wyandottes, and 5 Black Australorp Chicks that are now going on 3 weeks old! They all appear healthy, happy and are growing quickly!!
I look forward to learning as we go and watching my flock grow!!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
