Just started for the first time to keep 4 Suffolk chickens in our back yard in New Zealand.
First off, I need to stop the sparrows eating all our laying feed and it is costing us a fortune. I imagine the sparrows are going to be laying huge eggs!!! I will look into making a feeder that the chickens can access exclusively.

Your chickens only feeder sounds like a great idea. Not only do the sparrows steal the feed, they can bring parasites and disease along with them. other than very tight, fine mesh around the run and top, I don't know how anyone keeps them out. One of the treadle feeders should work to keep the sparrows out. Also consider adding a wild bird feeder remote from your chickens to keep them at a distance.
