    Hi everyone,

my name is Christine and I decided to join the forum to learn more about our two chicken we purchased last week. They are two year old Isa Browns and came from another home, thus came with a great hen house and extended cage. They are currently settling in to our yard in Ballarat, Victoria (Australia).

I look forward to learning more.

    Christine

G'day, and welcome to BYC, Christine. Glad you decided to our flock. Isa Brown is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links, which are produced by crossing a red gene rooster with a silver gene hen. Not only can they be sexed by color from hatching, but they are egg laying machines, outlaying either parent breed. It's one of the interesting quirks of hybridization. You should get a lot of large, brown eggs from those ladies. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers
