Hey there, my wife and I started raising chickens in April. We have 64 laying hens/roosters and also raised 150 broilers to put in the freezer. We have fed non-gmo ration to them all from day one. Our flock has had very few problems. For our layers we use the "chickshaw" plans from Abundant Permaculture on Youtube.

We currently have Barred Rock, Black Australorp, Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, Black Wyandotte, and a Welsummer rooster.

The broilers were in Salatin style pens and moved daily.

When we're done with the broilers, we put the pens up on cinder blocks for protection from hawks.

Welcome!

Great pics!

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
