so, did you hear the one about the couple from the city who retired and decided to raise chickens and ducks and bees?

No, but I heard the one about it being a great idea to join BYC ;)

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

This is my first year with my own chickens. Parents always had some. So I had a general idea on how to care for them. What kind of chickens do you have? I got some Black Copper Marans (From a breeder) and some Amerecauna (Easter eggers from TSC).

I raise FBCM and currently have 40+. I love that breed. Wonderful birds.

We have 9 one year olds...3 buff Orpington , 3 Cuckoo Maran, 3 Wyondotte ...plus 6 New Hampshire Reds, 6 Dark Cornish and 1 free by from the breeder she says is probably an Americauna..all babies that are 7 weeks. In ducklings we have 12, that are two weeks old

I bought 17 BCM from this couple and they threw in 2 splashes for free. They didnt want to have only two little babies by themselves. Bought the six Americana/EE pullets from TSC same day. Lost one BCM and one of the Amer. at different times. They are 10 weeks old now. I see 11 roosters. Trying to see what characteristics are most important/worst so I know which ones go to freezer camp.
