I was raised on a chicken farm from childhood all the way through teen years. As a kid, raising chickens was a chore (not the first thing a teenager wants to do with his life).
As I've gotten older, and bought 5 acres of land, I'm starting to realize the intrinsic value of owning my own chickens again. So, this October I am ordering 10 baby chicks. I know it's not the optimal time of year but that's when I have 1 month off from work to build a brooder and new coop and run. I've noticed a lot has changed since I was a kid and conventional ideas have changed. So, I'll probably have a lot of questions as a refresher and hopefully my memory takes back over, (but maybe not) :-(
