Thanks for the add and Happy New Year to you all. I only have 4 hens that I acquired in the summer but am now totally addicted!!! I would like to get some more in the spring but will this upset my hens?

Hi and welcome to byc. No problems getting more chickens - we all do it. If you search "integrating chickens into a flock" you'll all the info you need, and if not then ask away!
    Cheers

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Happy New Year to you as well!

Chicken keeping is certainly addicting! Adding new chickens WILL upset the old flock and cause a lot of stress on you and the birds. BUT, it's still possible to introduce them. Here's an article on introducing chickens using the "see-but-don't-touch" method. I've used this method and it was VERY effective. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method

Good luck to you and welcome!
