In the Brooder
We got our chickens in July, but brought them home the last week of September when we finished converting our garden shed into a coop. The reno was a lot of work. New roof, shingles, walls, added insulation, power points, thermostat (winters get very cold here ). We used materials we had at home, had never done anything like this before (my hubby & me). We were very proud of our end result. Not bad for a couple of old amateurs!! Our chooks seem to love their new home.
We have 4 chooks, with a hatch date of May 15th. One Mosaic named Ginger, 1 Wyandotte named Daisy, and 2 Cream Legbars named Penny & Rosie. They all started laying eggs the first few days of this month (November). Penny & Rosie lay olive colored eggs, Daisy lays a light brown egg & Ginger lays a light brown egg with white speckles.
I found the BYC site when we first got out chooks & have been a fan ever since. It's got a heap of information in it for newbies like us & I've wanted to register from day one. No better time like today!! We have lots of questions & will need your help & expertise.
