Hi my name is Elissa and I am new here!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have had chickens since 2020 so about 2.5 years!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I started with 5 and just added 3 more this spring. A nice flock of 8 is great for a family of 4
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons
Silver Laced Wyandottes
Rhode Island Red
My 3 new ones are debatable breeds..... I'm told one is either a cream leghorn or an olive egger. The other 2 I was told are easter eggers but one looks like a Black Australorp
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love to watch them do their thing! We boxed off a 40ftx20ft area of our yard as a run and they are so funny to watch. Plus I love a good omlette!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I also enjoy crochet and shopping
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I work in sales and love my job although it's very stressful and time consuming. My husband and I have 2 boys (4&6 yrs old) and a 9 year old dog names Waffles. The boys and pup love the chickens too!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've used this site as a reference since I got my chickens initially but with adding more birdies to the flock this year, I have many more questions lately!
