Hi, Moving to House

:welcome Most any breed will be good it depends a lot on their coop and run. If you get a lot of very cold weather in the winter months, breeds with combs closer to the head like Rose Combs are good but it really depends on the breeds you like. I have had several different breeds over the years and now raise both Rose Comb and Single Comb Rhode Island Reds, Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites, Single Comb White and Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns. Also, if your preference is bantam or large fowl and many of the large fowl breeds are also in bantams. Good luck and have fun...

First and foremost... :welcome! I hope that you enjoy this site as much as the rest of us do! I have learned SOOO much from his site, and hope that you do too!:wee

Secondly, CONGRATS! Moving to a new home is SOO exciting, especially since you can get new animals! Since you live in pretty cold climates, I would recommend cold hardy birds! Also, another important thing in picking chickens, is there temperament!

My top birds according to temperament ( GREAT with kids!!! ) :

1. Buff Orpingtons

2. Australorps

3. Silkie bantams
