I am new to peafowl ownership, we have a couple nice young peacocks (approx 1 yr old) and acquired a peachick that was a week old in hopes that it would be a peahen. She is about 3 weeks old now and is beginning to get some green on her neck area. Can anyone help sex her? [IMG][/IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Welcome! [IMG]

Go to one of the peacock threads. Ask there, I have not ever had one, but would love it! They are beautiful.

I have alerted Birdrain92 who shows & breeds Peafowl, to your post. Hopefully he will pop in soon. He is very knowledgeable.

That's an Indian Blue peahen. I see some white feathers on her wing which indicates she could be split to White or Pied.

Thank you drumstick diva. That was what I was thinking but needed confirmation.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person (never had any peafowl), but I'm glad Birdrain92 was able to help you ID your peafowl.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

This is a 10 week old Indian Blue peacock. To sex Indian Blue peafowl it's the barring on the shoulder. Males will start off with a green neck too for a little bit before going blue like this guy. This is one of the peachicks I hatched out this summer. Very friendly boy.
