Hi! I'm so happy I found this site site. My family and I are planning on getting chickens soon and are planning our greenhouse/coop combo :) We plan on getting icelandic chickens. My kids are so excited and we can't wait! Any tips on greenhouse/coops would be great, our winters get cold and well below frost. It will be our first time having chickens :)

Hi and welcome to BYC

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archives

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 (there's a guide on how to include your location under your avatar, which will be helpful). You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Hi! welcome.jpg
pull up a branch and roost for a bit! Always room for one more in this coop!!!
Altho I'm not as "north" as you are, we get pretty cold here in northern Wisconsin, USA not too far from the Canadian border. Lots of great knowledgeable folks on here to help. Check out the page loaded with great coop building ideas. Oh, and don't forget to wander over to the Random Ramblings section when you just feel like havin' a little fun chatting with a bunch of good eggs. (watch out tho, a few of us might be just a little "cracked" ;) )
