Hi! My name is Ashley and I live in Central Ontario, Canada. While I don't own chickens at the moment, it is something that I'm researching since my boyfriend and I have just purchased our first home. We live in a 112 year old farmhouse on a severed 3/4 of an acre lot on 100 acres of agricultural land.

I don't do anything without intensely researching first, so I'm looking forward to learning from well seasoned chicken people.

Although we live quite rurally, I still don't know if we are legally allowed to build a coop on our lot. I tried very hard one day online to sift through by-laws and zoning regulations for our township, and pretty much came up with nothing.

We live pretty much "in" the Minesing Wetlands, where almost all land that isn't zoned agricultural is either environmentally protected or hazard lands (aka floodplain). Our lot in particular is zoned hazard lands, even though we don't have ANY water and we're pretty much at the height of the flood.

So, a lot of researching and figuring out to do still, but hopefully I'll find good news soon...at least we have no neighbors to protest!
