Am from southern part of Indiana, approx 30 miles from Louisville, Ky. Have just gotten started with 60 chicks of various breeds along with 14 turkey chicks. Have 2 daughters that are starting in 4H and are planning to show their young chickens come fair time.
Just getting finished with building a 8' X 16' roost and nest house. My biggest question at this time is how close can I put the roost poles to accomadate the chickens and turkeys? Was planning on 8" apart in both horizontal and vertical measurements.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan [IMG]

You may find 8 inches to be tight. Also, they will all try to roost on the highest perch, so you may want to put them parallel instead of having higher and lower roosts.

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So happy you joined. I have to agree with 1muttsfan, the roost should be the same height because they will fight to get to the highest level. :thumbsup
