We are The Belen Family. My husband, our three children and I had recently got 5 (2 week old) chicks. We want to raise chickens for eggs. So we're hoping some or at least one of our baby chicks are a hen. We got 1 Silkie, 2 Easter-Eggers and 2 Rhode Island Reds.

It's nice to read that a lot of you are new and are going through this adventure with us.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. Your chicks are adorable. Our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

Welcome to BYC![IMG] I'm glad you joined our wonderful community.

You have some very cute chicks! I hope that they all turn out to be pullets for you, so that you can get lots of lovely eggs.[IMG]From the photos, I'm not seeing any obvious rootser signs, though it is far too soon to be sure that they are females.

[IMG] I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

Cute chicks! It is too young to tell gender with them, especially with the Silkie. Once they reach 8+ weeks, though, you can post some photos of them in the What Breed or Gender is This? section of the forums (What Breed Or Gender is This?), and we should be able to help sex them.

Hopefully, you get some lovely pullets!
