Good afternoon,
I'm Lee, I live in Waco, Texas with my 130 lb best buddy, an Anatolian Shepherd named Bas. I'm in town renting a small cabin with 2 huge yards which Bas chooses not to use. I have a dream of having a small farm one day and with my landlord's permission I am doing a little practicing here. Which includes a large vegetable garden and I am about to add quail. Sustainability can start anywhere, right?! I am building a 4ft x 4ftx 3ft pen and would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You certainly have come to the right place for all the fun and learning!

For more help with all the aspects of keeping poultry, you will want to stop by our learning center. Lots of good articles on all you will need to know to get started... https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

And you might want to connect with others in your state thread to see how they do things in your climate, area and breeds that do well and what feed stores might be the best, etc.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/44/texas

So do some reading here and if you have any particular questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to our roost! :)

Hi :welcome Lee

Glad you could join us here! Quail sure are great to keep, I really enjoyed mine. We have a lovey section in the learning Center on quail. TwoCrows has left you the link so please do pop by.

The quail section is also great for all the chat about them ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail

Wishing you the very best of luck for the future and with your farm plans. Enjoy BYC :frow
