I have managed to keep 5 chickens alive and healthy for over a year and had so much fun with them, I got 4 more this spring.

I am new to forums and can't figure out how to post a question about a problem with one of the new chicks. She looks like a chipmunk. So far she is acting normal and I see no drainage from her eyes. Do I need to quarantine her? I'm going to try to add some pictures. [IMG][/IMG]

I recommend any time you get a new bird, you quarantine for about 30 days. That way you can find out for sure if they have pests or an illness they may pass on to your existing flock. You will also need to read up on integration, if you haven't already.

    Best of luck to you!

G’Day from down under kvmade [IMG] Welcome!

As you have already received some good advice and links I will just wish you all the best.

Also, I just wanted to add that if at any time you are concerned that one of your flock is not well and need some assistance, this is a link to the Emergencies & Diseases Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]
