High Protein pellet for chicks

My question is this: How young can a chick swallow a pellet?

I have a source of 21% pellets that I would like to feed to 6 wk old pullets. I know there is a concern about the mineral content of layer feeds given to pullets. But, I would like to know when a chick is physically capable of eating pellets.

After raising chicks for many years I still have no idea, but I've seen 3 day old chicks swallow a small kernel of dry corn. They never seemed worst for the experience.

If it's pellets it's obviously isn't intended for chicks and probably has different ingredients and different levels of vitamins & minerals than chick starter does.
But to answer your question; my month olds can eat whole corn and layer pellets. If yours have problems eating it, then wet it to soften it.
