hiiii!! chickie mama newbie here :33

Hello, and welcome to BYC! thanks for sharing pics of your chooks!

Do you have your coop built/bought already? If so, you can transition them outside very soon.

Cat's do not normally kill standard sized chickens unless they are desperate. Bantams and chicks are another story. Make sure you have a sturdy predator proof coop and run to keep them safe. There are a lot of great articles abut it in the Learning Center.

Best of luck!
hi!! thanks for responding, i was planning on building their home today as it’s also starting to warm up here as well, but i was hoping to free range them! we have a good sized backyard and we were hoping to let them roam around everyday, my only issue right now would be separating our yard from our patio and making sure the cats wouldn’t be a problem. my sister was watching them last weekend and one of the chickies “yelled” because there was this cat watching from the window! my neighbors who also keep chickens did say that cats shouldn’t be too much of a concern though

Hi Kanami, welcome to BYC. Do you have a coop and run for your chicks. You can post some pictures of what will be their home, and we'll try to give you pointers to keep them safe.
i was hoping to free range them since we have a nice yard for it, i need to attach a locking mechanism for their front door and this isnt the final spot but here’s our finished coop we put together yesterday:
