Just getting started I'm going to build a coop for ten chickens how big do I need it to be
Welcome From Cold Colorado Not good on chicken math yet, but I believe it's 1.5 sq.ft. per chicken minimum.
Greetings from Kansas, mwdudley, and ! Pleased you joined our flock! Below is a link that discusses - at length - the square foot requirements for chickens. My one piece of advice - make it bigger than you need - you may want to add birds! Good luck to you!
& from Alabama. Glad you joined us.
Thanks that was very helpful and I will build to allow growth
X 2 welcome to BYC. These birds are addictive - chicken math shall strike.
Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan
Actually a coop should have 4 square feet of floor space per bird, and at least 10 square feet of run - so 40 square feet inside (for example 6x7 or so), and 100 outside (eg 10x10). But I agree, bigger is better, as you always end up with more than you planned on!
Hi from California! Glad to have you here!
thank you that's pretty much what I've come up with too I had not thought about out side ill look in to that also there is a lot to look at
